SUMMARY:Happiness is in Simple Things
DESCRIPTION:The best Ukrainian tableware stores chain Promenu\, with whom we have been friends for a long time\, asked me to hold a cycle of culinary master classes for their clients. Promenu people love to cook with beautiful\, high-quality and comfortable dishes. Promenu people always want to learn something new\, expand their menu\, surprise family and friends with delicious dishes and knowledge of other countries’ cuisines. During this lesson we prepared our favourite British dessert\, or as they call it in the UK\, a sweet dish that is served at the end of dinner – Bread & Butter pudding and Italian ice cream with the taste of British summer – elderflower. I used the Italian Nemox ice cream machine to make gelato\, it can easily and quickly cook any kind of ice cream and sorbets. Bread & Butter is a very simple dessert made from stale white bread\, eggs\, milk\, sugar and a handful of raisins. British mothers came up with this treat for their children after the Second World War\, when one got food with ration stamps and the choice was scarce. These were difficult times when women sewed bras from handkerchiefs\, painted the illusion of stockings on their legs\, trousers were forbidden to be cut with a lapel\, and the number of buttons on jackets was strictly regulated by the state. Total savings. Now this dessert is a taste of British childhood and a classic of national cuisine. It is customary to serve this pudding warm with a ball of ice cream and a glass of sherry. Sommelier Konstantin Vidoborenko offered for the pudding dessert sweet wine Muscat Kolonist\, which was provided for the lesson by my friends Alla and Ivan Plachkov\, the owners of the Kolonist winery. The notes of citrus\, ripe apricot\, honey\, and fried almonds in the aroma of a wine bouquet we well paired with dessert\, and we also used Muscat as a delicious sauce for our ice cream. Our guests’ children gladly helped their mothers to cook. The lesson turned out to be sincere and warm. Food gathers people together at one table and always helps to feel like a part of the whole.
